6 Did you choose your current profession/job or somehow just end up in it?

Well, more like, lack thereof...I did not get my degree until I was 31 (Biomedical Engineering) and expected that I would work at it until retirement age. That age ended up being 35 when an opportunity came for my husband that moved us to the rural area that we are in. It really was a joint decision because quite honestly, we did not want to live apart, neither of us were thrilled with our jobs at that point, we were in an area with very high cost of living, and this opportunity put us in an area with 2/3 less COL and a salary bump for him that did not lessen our income.

There are times it has been rocky: getting used to a very small area versus a big city, me finding new outlets for my brain and energy, me feeling like I am not contributing. Those are a thing of the past and it turned out to be an excellent decision. We bought a house (and paid it off,) remodeled our kitchen and bathroom (paid them off too,) and have been able to travel much more than if we had stayed.
