May. 8th, 2024 02:18 pmWe are back from our trips and I am trying to catch up on everything...
May
1. In various countries there is a holiday today (Labor (Workers) Day in the US, Early May Bank Holiday in the UK). It is also May Day, an ancient pagan festival of spring, rebirth and fertility in many European countries. What are your plans today?
We had a busy May 1st: We were in Colorado Springs and went to tour The Olympic Training Center and then the The National WW2 Aviations Museum. Both were very interesting and I would definitely go back. That evening we had dinner with friends that we had not see in over 5 years.
2. Today is a day to celebrate tuna fish. Do you eat fresh or canned/tinned tuna. If it's in a can, do you buy it in oil, brine or water.
I do eat jarred tuna in oil (drained.) IMO, it is far superior to canned tuna in water.
3. James Brown was born today in 1933. Known as the Godfather of Soul - can you name one of his songs?
Not a one and we even lived in his home town for a few years...
4. May the fourth be with you - it's Star Wars Day! Have you a favourite Star Wars film or perhaps you've never seen them? Have you seen any of them more than once?
My brother was obsessed with Star Wars, so I have seen Episode IV: A New Hope, more times than I can count. It is probably my favorite as well.
5. It's World Laughter Day - what made you laugh recently?
6. Orson Wells was born today in 1915 - have you seen any of his films?
7. In 1925 the first projection planetarium opened at Deutsche Museum in Munich, Germany. Have you ever been to a planetarium show?
8. It's World Red Cross Day - have you ever learned how to resuscitate someone?
9. In 1904 the steam locomotive City of Truro became the first steam engine to exceed 100mph. Have you ever travelled on a high-speed train? Is there are good train network where you live?
10. World Lupus Day. Are you aware of the symptoms? Will you wear purple today?
11. Have you ever used a foam roller to self-massage (there's some tips here)? The MELT method also uses a foam roller to realign and stretch joints and facia - have you ever heard of it?

16. International Day of Light - promoting how light is used in science, art, education, and sustainable development and the benefits of light. Do you have good natural light in your home - which rooms get the best sunlight?
17. Today is the National Day of Norway with parades and events all day. Does your country have a National Day?
18. Do you live near an art gallery? Have you visited?
19. World Baking Day - Do you watch The Great British Bake Off? Do you prefer to buy your baked goods or do you bake some yourself?
20. Bees are really important for the pollination of plants and they make delicious honey. Do you like honey?
21. In 1909 the first tennis player to win the 'Career Grand Slam', Fred Perry was born. Do you play tennis or do you prefer to watch?
