Sep. 10th, 2023 08:04 am10 – Arts in Education Week: Every year beginning the second Sunday in September, National Arts in Education Week celebrates the transformative powers of creative skills. Sadly, governments everywhere are cutting arts programs in schools, citing budget concerns, or to favour more "career-oriented" programs. Did you take any type of art courses in school (art, music, dance, etc.)? What benefits are there to arts education?
Most of the schools I went to early had music programs; I don't really remember any art or dance classes. In the past, people (mostly men, because they were allowed education) were more well rounded with knowledge on various subjects. I think in limiting arts in education, we have done a huge disservice to our children and young adults. We have created one dimensional adults that cannot seem to understand or appreciate each other's talents and interests. I do believe that we have to train and help people to focus on education that will provide an income, but life is not all about work.
