27 – Onion Day: True or false: onions improve the taste of pretty much every savoury dish they're in, even if the original recipe doesn't specifically include them. Are onions a staple in your kitchen? Do you have any tricks to avoid tears while chopping?

I do like onions; all kinds. They are a staple. I usually have red and white or yellow, as well as green onions and/or scallions. No, I have no tricks, but I have never tried the ski/dive goggle method.

I thought I was alone in having myriad types of onion on hand all the time. My SIL and niece are allergic to them which I find sad. They add so much flavor to so many dishes!

My SIL and niece are allergic to alliums and that means garlic, all onions and I assume leeks. I have to cook different everything for them when they're over. How the heck do they eat out?
