13 – Kitchen Klutzes Day: Even if you're not a klutz in the kitchen, we've all had a significant kitchen mishap at some point. What was the klutziest thing to ever happen to you in the kitchen?

I cook and bake most every day, so that gives me lots of opportunity for mishap. I don't recall anything major, just lots of drips and spills from things getting knocked or utensils falling into things causing splatter.

Back when K and I were living together before marriage (and I did not know how to cook,) we had some glass cookware (Visions.) I guess we also must have had some non stove top safe glass as well, because we were making something on the stove top and we had both stepped out of the kitchen (thank goodness) when we heard a loud crash. We went in to see that the pot on the stove top had exploded, sending chards of glass everywhere, even embedding some into the wall and wooden door frame. I do not like to think about what would have happened if one of us had still been in there.

I like to think I am knowledgeable in the kitchen, but when it comes to things that are hard to open, maybe I enter dangerous territory. Like trying to cut open a coconut, or a mango seed, with my big not-so-sharp knives. I somehow haven't cut myself yet, but I've made an awful lot of mess. Lots of banging too (which scares my dog). Other than that, I can be a bit of a klutz when I chop things up. Things tend to fly off the chopping board into the sink, or onto the floor, if I'm not careful. But the dog helps clean up!
