June 10 & 11, 2023
Jun. 11th, 2023 07:08 am10 – Worldwide Knit in Public Day: It's time to take knitting out of the shadows and show everyone that knitting is for all ages and that it’s a fun and enjoyable activity, and something that you can proud of. Do you knit? Do you knit in public? Do you ever get questions or comments from strangers when you do knit in public?
I learned how to knit about 9 years ago and got ok at it. I did knit a bit in public, but never go really good enough for it to be "mindless."
11 – Corn on the Cob Day: Do you like corn on the cob? How do you usually cook it -- just boiled, on the BBQ, etc.? What's your favourite seasoning?
I love fresh, in season corn! We have a local farm that grows an amazing variety called "Obsession." It should start coming in around July. I usually have some on the cob, briefly boiled (5 minutes) with salt and butter. My favorite ways of having it are raw corn salads and esquites. I still have quite a bit in the freezer, because the farmer likes me and gave me 6 dozen ears that had been attacked by the birds. All, but about 1/4 of each ear was perfect, so I froze about 40 cups.
