14 – World Migratory Bird Day: World Migratory Bird Day is observed twice a year during the second Saturday in May and again on the second Saturday in October. The goal is to raise awareness of issues affecting migratory birds and to inspire action around the world to take measures for their conservation. Do you live in a region that sees bird migrations in the spring and fall? Light pollution is a major threat to migratory birds. Does your municipality have any "Dim the Lights" policies in place to protect migratory birds?

We do see some migratory birds, but not as many as we used to. Light pollution is terrible here and only getting worse. We live in a relatively small town, but people are so afraid (crime is not high here, I blame Republicans and Fox) that they have lights on 24 hours a day. Our house and our neighbor's to the right are the only people in our entire neighborhood that do not have porch lights and/or security lights on every night.

I don’t think I’d like it if the the houses were lit up all night. Do the streetlights not illuminate the houses enough?
