Apr. 25th, 2023 08:35 am21 – Coin Week: Have you ever, or do you still, collect coins? With the move to cashless payments, do you handle coins much these days? Do you have a jar full of useless coins stashed away somewhere?
No, I thought about it at one time, but for much real value, they need to be in pristine condition. I have not really used cash much in the last twenty years, really only at the farmer's market. I do like Apple pay and swipe less card pay. I do not use cash apps though ro anything that goes directly to my saving account. Nope, no jar full of coins.
22 – Earth Day: this is the 53rd Earth Day. What one thing do you think every citizen of Earth should pledge to do to save our planet?
Stop creating so much trash! Recycle, compost and stop with the single use plastics. If you use plastic bags, re-use them, don't just throw them away.
23 – World Book Night: World Book Night aims to change the way adults view reading by encouraging them to take the time to read during the night, when they have more time. Do you do most of your reading during the day or at night? Do you wish you had more time to read during the day? What are the main pros and cons of doing most of your reading at night?
I rarely have much time to read during the day, but do spend evening reading sometimes (when K is away, I like it better than TV) and always read before bed.
24 – Firefly Day: Not the insect but the short lived TV programme! Were you a fan of Firefly or did it pass you by? If you have no interest in it have you ever seen a real Firefly?
Yes, I really like Firefly and was sad when it was cancelled. I saw the movie, but really thought the show was better.
25 – World Penguin Day: How would you celebrate world penguin day?
If we had a local zoo with penguins, go and see them. Support a wildlife organization.
We just got back from and extended weekend away in Philadelphia. We flew up Thursday and back yesterday morning. We had a lovely time! We toured Independence Hall and saw the Liberty Bell, ate cheese steaks, went to the Barnes Foundation (a really unbelievable private collection of mostly paintings from the impressionists,) had an outstanding prix fix Italian dinner at Vetri Cucina, went to the Philly museum of art, went to the Italian market area, ate some more and walked and walked (8 miles on Sunday alone...)
