12 – World Hamster Day: Did you know there are 24 different species of hamsters? Have you ever had a hamster as a pet?

I had no idea, there were so many species. No, I was not allowed to as a child and that is probably a good thing; I'm allergic to cats and rabbits, so probably am allergic to hamsters, etc.

I’ve never been keen on hamsters. A friend had Russian hamsters which are tiny and completely obsessed with escaping.
