25 – Real Bread Week: Real bread refers to any type of bread that has been made without the use of processing aids or any other additives and includes any type of additive-free bread (e.g. pita, paratha, tortilla, oatcakes, roti, bagels, etc.). Do you, or have you ever, made bread? Do you use a bread maker? If you always buy rather than make bread, do you look for bread that at least claims to be additive-free, made from organic flour, etc.?

Yes, I have made bread off and on for many years. Up until 3 years ago (my starter did not survive our kitchen remodel) I made some form of sourdough bread on a weekly basis.

I did have a bread machine (a family member gave it to us as a Christmas gift) many years ago, but IMO all of the bread tasted the same.

Now, when I buy bread, it is exclusively from local bakers where I know (the very short) Ingredient list. I do plan to get back into making my own sour dough, but with K out of town every week, I have had to give up some things that I just do not have time for.

I'm always surprised by how bland most shop-bought bread is even if it claims to be sourdough! There's no comparison really is there!
