19. In what forms of housing have you resided?

8 apartments, 2 condos, and 4 houses.

Today was the last day of swimming (as a group) until after the new year. Since it was Monday and we sprinted on Friday, I was hoping we would not race. No such luck...but yay, I had my best ever 50m time, even with my goggles falling down, a good 25m and my best 25m backstroke. Glad to have a couple of weeks off though.

Have a plan for Christmas dinner and a shopping list: Osso Bucco with Risotto and Broccoli Rabe with Pecan Pie Cake for dessert. The OB and risotto should be fairly easy, but the cake will take a bit of time (it has a few components,) but I hope to have a relaxing couple of weeks.

That sounds like a delicious meal. Osso Bucco is such a wonderful winter dish. I love how braised dishes take care of themselves.

Thank you! I do as well and it should be perfect weather for it; the forecast is for the teens at night and 20's during the day. I am putting the flannel sheets on the bed tomorrow...

We're expecting an arctic blast that could bring 2-5 inches of snow and pull us down into double digits below zero! We did not sign up for this!

Yes, we are getting the same one, just not quite as cold and they have backed off on snow totals for us. Where are you located?

Kansas City and they've backed off the snow totals and frigid temps here, too. Our meteorologists were gleeful about double digit below freezing yesterday. They all seem disappointed that it won't be as terrible as their projections. We're still getting snow but overnights will be between 3° and -7° for the next three days. Sounds way better than the -21° that was on the chart yesterday!

I have never been to Kansas City. I remember growing up in Atlanta, anytime the weather would get dicey, there was an older weatherman (before meteorologists) who would be beside himself. He would remove his jacket and roll up his sleeves and look like he hadn't slept in three days.

At least they have backed off a little on temps and snow; hopefully we do not get surprised...

Turns out the newspaper wasn't referring to wind chill so we're still going to be below 20 plus. I am not leaving this house but the mister has a radio show he can't get out of or broadcast from home. Ugh.

Yes, there is a group of about 12 regulars with another 8-10 that show up sporadically. We have a coach (he sets the workouts.) Monday is technique day, Wednesday is cardio (long swim) day and Friday is sprint day.

When we first started, we were in the minority that we had not swam in high school and/or college, but now it has evened out a bit. We do have two men in their 60's who both swam in college and went to the Olympic trials (one would have probably made the Olympics, but it was the year that the US boycotted.) We have one lady, at 72, is the state champion in the senior Olympics and placed in the national.

Most days are not great for the ego...
