7. Where do you think your road is going?

I assume we are talking life road, because I live on a small circle of 4 houses...I hope my life road still has a long way to go (I am 54,) running parallel with K's (he is 59.) I do hope for many more twists and turns, but hopefully no real mountains to ascend or bumps to have to maneuver over.

Yesterday was a relaxing and enjoyable day, starting with the farmer's market, then breakfast. Once K was back from his ride and we had showered and caffeinated, we made a trip out to the fruit stand for early apples, peaches, and some late blueberries. We did get caught in a major rain storm going and coming back, but at least not while we were out of the car.

The rain (although not nearly as much) cooled things off, so we enjoyed our manhattans on the front porch with some jamon, manchego, dates, and roasted almonds. Dinner was an old favorite: Fresh corn with bacon, tomatoes, and avocado. We then watched "Lightyear," enjoyable, but not one of Pixar's best and episode 5 of "Ms. Marvel."

I am currently reading "Lessons in Chemistry" which (according to reviews was LOL funny, uplifting...) at 120 pages in is pretty depressing and tragic.

You both retired very early!

I haven’t watched lightyear yet. I think I’ll miss Tim Allen’s voice …

Oh - my error :)

Mr Cee has been working from home since the beginning of the c19 outbreak - it’s unlikely he’ll be back in the office before he retires. He’s 62 now but won’t get his pension until 66 so a little way to go yet.

I retired early for similar reasons - my last job started to be something I wasn’t interested in as they changed it. They also wanted me to travel around and I didn’t want to do that. It was expensive to use public transport to travel to London to work so it was much more sensible for me to be retired.

He likes his job but his home life is far more important to him. He has a year between being able to claim the pension from his employer at 65 and the state pension at 66 and at the moment he’s thinking he’ll keep working in that year but cut his hours.

It really depends what his employer offers - they will panic if he says he wants to retire so they may offer well paid consultancy work (he’s been headhunted a few times and the company has thrown money and shares at him to stay!). That would be the best of both worlds as he’ll work from home and choose the hours he wants to do and what he wants to do :)
