June 21, 2022
Jun. 21st, 2022 06:06 am21. June 21 is "International Yoga Day". Do you do, or have you ever done, yoga?
I did yoga twice per week (at a studio) for ~12 years. When we came back from our last temporary assignment, the two yoga teachers we had in the past were more sporadic. One had given up her studio and the other was back and forth in different places. We were able to get in at least 1 class per week until COVID. Since then classes have been few and far between. In 2020, I took some classes that were offered outside, but since then due to not feeling safe indoors, availability, and then injury I have not done any, except some poses incorporated into my daily stretching. I miss it.
It was a chilly morning again yesterday (55F,) so we chose to walk outside, rather than swim. We did about 3.5 miles and then lifted back and biceps. Today will be more cardio and legs (ugh.)
I also did a deep clean of the stove and hood (grates and baffles,) and cleaned the coffee machine, steam oven and regular oven. I do have a bit of cooking today, as well as watering and CSA pick-up, but hope to finish the deeper clean of the kitchen. It is supposed to get hot (with poor air quality later in the day,) so we should be able to swim tomorrow (they have fixed the showers, so yay, hot water.)
We finished season 2 of "Hacks" last night, it just keeps getting better and better. There is going to be a season 3, but I'm not sure which direction they will go.

Date: 2022-06-21 05:51 pm (UTC)We enjoyed it quite a bit for a long time. We were so lucky when we started that a local studio had 3 very different teachers that all taught really great classes, focusing on different things: the owner was more spiritual and did a well balanced beginner to intermediate class, a guy who taught on Mondays was fun and encouraging and taught a more intermediate-advanced class, and then the other girl was very focused on correct form, but more gentle poses, that we held for a long time. Both K and I really loved it. When the owner had a baby, she closed the studio, so we started going to a woman who had been one of her mentors. Her classes were a good mix and she could do anything.
I never got injured doing yoga, but have known some people who did. You have to be in tune with your body (particularly if you are doing it heated) and make sure you are working within what your body can do that day, not trying to compete with others.
