In my corner of the US; professional cycling that is not The Tour de France, certain types of food and specialized ingredients, and smaller cities in Europe.
We had a lovely afternoon and evening about 1.5-2 hours away. We had lunch, then stocked up on gin, rye, vermouth, and Aperol at a liquor warehouse type of store there, then checked into the hotel and hung out for a bit before changing and heading to dinner. We went to an Italian restaurant that is one of our favorites and enjoyed fresh-made pasta, artichokes, wine and some gelato for dessert. Afterwards, we walked to the theater for "Hairspray." It was a wonderful production; joyful, fun, positive and a good message. I liked it much better live, than I did the movie.
Slept pretty well (we have stayed at the same hotel enough, that I know the room area to request, so that it is dark and quiet.) We got up fairly early 7AM (which is late for us,) showered, checked out, stopped by Whole Foods, then grabbed bagels for breakfast at a local bakery and headed home. It was an easy drive back and has been a beautiful, cooler day.
We enjoyed an Aperol spritz on the back patio and a healthier grain dish with pickled fennel and pea shoots for dinner. I am a happy and satisfied girl. Tomorrow morning, we move to the outdoor pool for the first time this season...
