24. What is the worst smelling place you've been to?

Back in 1988 when we moved to Boston, some of the T (subway stations) were unbelievably foul smelling.

It turned into a lovely day yesterday (I am ready for spring,) plus I was able to get everything printed for taxes, now I just need to sit down and calculate.

I don't use a program, I still do it by hand. We only have federal to do, since we live in a place that does not do state income tax (or county/city.) We do not have kids (of course if we had, they would be grown by now,) not self employed, don't itemize. The only tricky part is calculating tax on dividends and capital gains. I guess I will dig out my little green visor...

We started sending our taxes out when the mister retired. Things started getting complicated with capital gains...

I just don't get why we still have to go through it; all of it is sent to the feds and they have to check it anyway; why not just go the extra step and send people a refund or a bill. I've wondered that since EVERYBODY went electronic and sends all this information to the IRS even before we get the physical forms.

It's probably a petty in house game to catch small tax cheats while they let the lawyered and loopholed big ones get away with it.

Good luck with the taxes. I used to be self-employed for a while which is the only time you are expected to do your own taxes in the UK and I remember it well (it was pretty straight forward).
