Jun. 30th, 2023 08:53 am30 – Social Media Day: In its short life, social media has redefined how people interact, communicate, and share with family, friends, and the world – in both good ways and bad. What social media do you use? Do you occasionally take breaks from social media? Do you have any ideas on what might improve the social media experience for most?
I use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Dreamwidth, all for different things.
Facebook is used for interacting with people that I know in person, mostly from past areas that I have lived and past jobs. It allows me to keep up a bit with their lives.
Instagram is mostly for interacting with people I do not know personally; although there are a few that I know that prefer IG to FB. I post pictures of food I have made or things I have done that have been inspired by someone and then tag them.
Twitter I use mostly for news and cycling. I do not really interact with anyone and I don't know any of them personally.
Dreamwidth started as an alternative to Live Journal and is mostly people I know because of BtVS fandom and fan fiction. Even though the fandom part (at least for me) is not all that active anymore and I have never met any of you personally, I probably have more interests and ideals in common with the people here and interact more on a regular basis.
I don't really take social media breaks, because even though I am on four things, I usually visit each one, once per day for no more than 15 minutes.
