What type of tea do you drink?

I usually only have tea when I am sick (some form of green tea) or when I see my brother in-law (he loves tea and has some very nice Assams.)

comments

20. It’s International Customer Support Day. When was the last time you had to contact customer support? Were they able to help you?

In February. Due to accidents, weather, and strikes, our train from Madrid to Cordoba was cancelled (as were all other trains there.) We were not notified, so could not cancel our reservation and get a refund early. While on the bus, I contacted Omio (who we bought the ticket through.) It took 4 emails (3 to Omio and 1 to the train company,) plus filling out a form, but we finally got reimbursed in April.

comments

19. How’s your gut microbiome? Your gut is linked to your immune system, so eating a large variety of plants each week (at least 30), and eating fermented foods regularly (such as live yoghurt, kefir, fresh sauerkraut and kimchi) is said to have a huge impact on your gut health and therefore your weight and immune system. Do you make an effort to do that every week?

I think it is ok. I am not sure that I get 30 different plants each week, but I do get a wide variety. I also regularly consume fermented foods. It helps that I really like most of them.

comments

Was there an incentive to do so?

I have: I contributed to a start up social media site and an exercise band company.

2. Have you heard of the ‘Language of Flowers’, published in 1884? Victorian Britain and America were caught up in the concept in the 19th Century. Do you know the secret meaning of any flowers?

I have heard of it, but know nothing about it out.

3. Have you ever traced any of your family tree?
4. Today is a holiday in many countries, either to celebrate Labour Day or May Day. If you have a day off today, what are your plans?
5. Do you like rhubarb?
6. Have you ever completed a cryptic crossword, or do you stick to the easy ones?
7. Do you take your phone everywhere, or sometimes leave it at home and not worry about it?
8. Henry Dunant was born today in 1828 – he was the co-founder of the Red Cross. Have you ever learned first aid? Could you resuscitate someone?
9. In 1896, the first horseless carriage show in London featured ten models. Do you own a car? What kind of car is it?
10. Are there some colours you would never wear or use in your home?
11. When was the last time you took a photo?
12. It’s the International Day of Plant Health! Healthy plants mean a healthy planet! Have you ever planted something and watched it grow? Do you look after your houseplants or your garden plants diligently?
13. It’s Top Gun Day! Ever seen it (and/or the sequel)?
14. Have you ever seen a ‘mockumentary’ film or TV show? The term was coined when the 1984 “This is Spinal Tap” film was released, and notable examples on TV include “The Office”.
15. Bees are responsible for pollinating many of the plants we eat (a current estimate is that they are responsible for every three bites of food we eat). Have you seen any bees this year?
16. Henry Fonda was born today in 1905 – have you seen any of his films?
17. It’s World Telecommunications Day – have you ever learned something new online?
18. There are hundreds of different shapes of pasta – Farfalle (butterflies), Campanelle (little bell flowers), Orecchiette (little ears), Rigatoni (ridged), amongst others. Which is your favourite pasta shape to have with a sauce?
20. It’s International Customer Support Day. When was the last time you had to contact customer support? Were they able to help you?
21. It’s International Tea Day – do you like a cup of tea every now and again? What type of tea do you drink?
22. Today Vivid Sydney starts in Sydney, Australia (and continues until 13th June). Iconic landmarks and urban spaces glow with stunning light installations and 3D projections, captivating both locals and tourists with a vibrant playground of lights, music, and creativity. Have you ever seen a city light show similar to this?
23. When is the last time you ate fresh pineapple – did you prepare it yourself?
24. If you had a pet dog, what name would you give it? What’s the weirdest dog name you’ve heard?
25. It’s estimated that gaming now holds around an 11% share of the global entertainment market. Have you ever played an electronic game (on your phone, computer or a game console)?
26. When you look up into the sky, can you identify any of the cloud formations, such as Cumulonimbus, Cirrus or Stratus?
27. Have you ever tried box breathing? It is an effective way to calm yourself if you are feeling panicky or overwhelmed. You can find the instructions on this page.
28. Do you have a favourite cologne or perfume?
29. When was the last time it rained where you live?
30. What is your favourite way to eat vegetables?
31. Have you ever been in a self-driving car? Would you want to try it?

comments

30. In 2018, Sweden's official Twitter account confirmed that Swedish meatballs actually originated in Turkey. Do you like Swedish meatballs? Ever had them in IKEA?

I am not completely surprised by this, although the sauce (that I remember) doesn't scream Turkish to me. I have never had the IKEA ones, but the ones I did have in the past, I remember liking.

comments

29. When was the last time you received a letter (not junk mail)?

Probably during the holidays in a card or on the back of a card and probably more of a note than a letter. People do not send in depth letters (or even emails) anymore. It annoys me sometimes.

comments

28. In 2004, Shrek the sheep from Tarras, Central Otago, New Zealand, was finally shorn live on TV after 6 years of avoidance; the fleece weighed 27 kg (60 lb). Do you own, or have you made anything from sheep’s wool?

I have a few sweaters. I had more, but unfortunately the moths got them.

comments

27. What sweets/candies do you remember from your childhood? When was the last time you ate some?

I remember really liking pixie sticks (I have always enjoyed sweet-tart things) and butterscotch hard candies. It has been probably 45 to 50 years since I have had the first and maybe ten years since the second.

comments

26. Do you still have a landline, or do you only use your mobile phone/cellphone?

Yes, sort of. We have an internet based landline that we purchased 15 years ago when we were on a temporary assignment in another state. It allowed us to receive calls to our "real home" at our temporary one. We only pay tax on it, which amounts to less than $100 per year.

comments

25. When’s the last time you had to use a plumber?

Not due to an emergency, but every year we have our "on demand" hot water system flushed out, so that happened in March and then we had them put in a water filter for our pot filler in April.

comments

50 questions

Courtesy of Kazzy_Cee:

1. Bagels or donuts?
Bagels. I like a fresh from the oil donut, but that is a treat; a bagel is breakfast

2. Bar soap or body wash?
I use both. We buy a locally made bar soap and on swim days, I use a body wash that helps get the chlorine smell out.

3. Being afraid or being embarrassed?
I don't get embarrassed like I did when I was younger, still don't like it, but can't stand to be unsure or afraid.

4. Big bash or intimate gathering?
I like both, but intimate gatherings are easier with the hearing aids.

5. Board games or video games?
Board

6. Bridgerton or The Crown?
I've never seen Bridgerton, but watched The Crown up until the last couple of season (the C&D storyline did not interest me.)

7. Cardio or weights?
Both, I swim, walk, bike, but also lift weights and do yoga.

8. Carpet or hardwood?
Hardwood. Easier to keep clean and better for those of us with allergies.

9. Clue/Cluedo or Monopoly?
Monopoly

10. Cook or do the dishes?
Definitely cook. I love cooking and baking, but it is infinitely better when someone else chops and cleans.

11. Damp socks or a pebble in your shoe?
If it is something you cannot correct; dam socks.

12. Dragons or unicorns?
Dragon; I would probably be allergic to a unicorn.

13. Family vacation or solo trip?
With K.

14. Fork or spoon?
Fork, unless it is a soup or stew

15. General admission or assigned seats?
Always an assigned seat.

16. Give or receive?
I enjoy getting gifts, but love finding the perfect gift for someone else.

17. Hot cocoa or hot cider?
Neither really

18. Iced tea or hot tea?
I like them both, depending on the temperature

19. Italian food or Mexican food?
Italian is my first choice, but I love good Mexican food.

20. Long car ride or short plane trip?
Short plane trip, but if trains were like they are in Europe/Britain, I would rather do that.

21. Mountains or beach?
Mountains. Beaches are nice for a day, but I get bored.

22. Movie candy or popcorn?
Popcorn, but have not been to a movie in so long...

23. Musical theater or concert?
Musical theatre, hands down. We have a subscription and see 6 shows per year.

24. Nightlight or no light?
No light and blackout curtains.

25. Ninja attack or pirate attack?
Pirate; you might have a fighting chance.

26. Outer space or bottom of the ocean?
Outer space as long as there is gravity.

27. Painful truth or comforting lie?
I am definitely the painful truth type of person, but have been known to spare someone's feelings with a small lie.

28. Pancakes or waffles?
Pancakes; better butter and syrup distribution

29. Passion or friendship?
Friendship lasts longer, passion is cyclical.

30. Phone call or text?
Text.

31. Pizza or tacos?
I like both, but would probably lean towards pizza

32. Play or concert?
Play.

33. Playlists or podcasts?
Playlists. I have never been able to get into podcasts.

34. Puzzles or coloring books?
Puzzles. I liked coloring books as a child, but do not see the appeal as an adult.

35. Rain or snow?
Rain.

36. Ramen or pho?
I do love both when it is cold out

37. River or lake?
Either

38. Roller coaster or Ferris wheel?
Roller coaster, as long as it doesn't go backwards.

39. Roller skates or ice skates?
I cannot do either; maybe roller blades

40. Salt or pepper?
Salt, it helps everything, even desserts

41. Singing in the shower or singing in the car?
Car

42. Skinny fries or thick cut?
I like both, but lean towards skinny and crispy

43. Sneezing or coughing?
Neither, but sneezing is usually just something aggravating.

44. Snowboarding or skateboarding?
Neither, I don't want to die.

45. Snowmen or sandcastles?
Snowmen

46. Spicy or mild?
Spicy, most of the time.

47. Street food or fine dining?
I like both, but lean towards fine dining as long as i can choose the number of courses.

48. Subtitles or dubbed?
Subtitles; again hearing loss.

49. Wine or beer?
Wine. K does not care for beer, so I rarely have it.

50. Zoo or aquarium?
I like both, but with zoos you get to wander outside.

comments
